AMES Australasia, a leading name in the garden and hardware industry, has been designing, manufacturing, and distributing innovative products for over 120 years. Catering to both homeowners and professionals, AMES Australasia blends its strong heritage with modern innovation to offer a wide range of trusted and iconic brands.

Challenge

In 2022, AMES Australasia recognized the need to invest in developing leadership capabilities across all levels of the organization. Despite its success in the industry, AMES Australasia had never implemented a formal leadership development program. To address this gap and foster a culture of leadership excellence, AMES Australasia embarked on a journey to design and roll out a comprehensive leadership training program.

The leadership development program was designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to lead effectively in a rapidly evolving business environment. It sought to nurture talent, enhance employee engagement, drive performance, and support the organisation’s long-term growth and success.

Project overview:

AMES Australasia partnered with PD Training to design, develop and implement the program. The program comprised a blend of learning modalities, including profiling, workshops, masterclasses, group coaching sessions, and experiential learning activities. The program was structured to cater to leaders at three levels:

Emerging Leaders: Employees identified as high-potential individuals with the potential to take on leadership roles in the future.

Frontline Leaders: Supervisors, team leaders, and managers responsible for leading teams and executing day-to-day operations.

Senior Leaders: Senior managers responsible for setting strategic direction, driving organisational change, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Our Approach:

The program was designed in collaboration with AMES Australasia stakeholders and SMEs, blending various learning modalities such as profiling, workshops, masterclasses, group coaching, and experiential learning. Key components included:

Customised Curriculum: Tailored modules for each leadership level, focusing on strategic leadership, communication, decision-making, conflict resolution, and team building.

Action Learning Projects: Real-world business challenges allowed participants to apply new knowledge and skills practically.

Group Coaching: Group coaching sessions supported personal and professional development goals and addressed specific leadership challenges.
