Challenge

As part of its ongoing commitment to staff development, Goulburn Valley Health sought to implement an Emerging Leadership Program specifically tailored to support senior and experienced allied health clinicians. The goal was to enhance leadership capabilities among these professionals. This required a program that focused not only on leadership skills but also on the unique challenges faced by clinicians transitioning into leadership positions within a healthcare setting

PD Training developed a program where participants could understand what it means to be a leader at GV Health and gain a consistent set of tools and skills to manage and lead their teams, supporting GV Health in achieving its key operational and strategic objectives in the coming years

Project overview:

PD Training designed and developed a bespoke Emerging Leaders Program for Goulburn Valley Health, specifically tailored to the needs of senior and experienced allied health clinicians. The program featured a blend of learning modalities, including profiling, workshops, group coaching sessions, and experiential learning activities. To ensure the practical application of the skills learned, participants selected and worked on continuous improvement projects throughout the program, culminating in presentations to the GV Health executive team as part of the program’s close-out.

The Allied Health Emerging Leadership Program was created to empower experienced allied health clinicians with comprehensive leadership skills. This holistic program equipped participants with essential tools for effective team leadership, strategic communication, and service improvement strategies. By fostering a deeper understanding of leadership, participants were able to drive innovation, enhance service delivery, and contribute to achieving GV Health’s operational and strategic objectives, ensuring sustained professional growth and impact in their careers

The training was delivered in a face-to-face or live online format to approximately 500 employees across 15 regional offices in Queensland. A total of 42 days of training took place between February and May 2023.
